How to Choose the Right Jewellery for Your Outfit

How to Choose the Right Jewellery for Your Outfit

You've certainly noticed that the correct jewellery can significantly elevate an outfit when worn with the right apparel. You might have a favourite pair of earrings or a necklace that you usually wear to work with your favourite LBD.

Is there, however, any unspoken law about which jewellery goes with which outfits?

Although not officially recognised, there is an art to matching jewellery to your outfit.

We've put up a list of our favourite jewelry-matching tips below. Alternatively, you may watch our videoo for even more suggestions! Keep in mind that these are merely suggestions that have shown to be effective. Always remember to be yourself and do what you want!

Necklaces: How to Wear Them With Your Outfit

Here are some unwritten rules about wearing necklaces with an outfit:

A necklace can always be used to bring definition and interest to solid shirts and basic blouses.

Statement or layered necklaces look great with high necklines (such a turtleneck, collared shirt, or mock neck). Layered necklaces are ideal for more formal occasions, whilst a large statement piece is perfect for a night out.

If you're wearing a flowing or loose blouse, a necklace will help define your figure and keep the top from overwhelming you. It's a good idea to give these necklaces a stronger texture so they stand out more against the fabric.

Most shirts can be accessorised with simple necklaces and fine silver or gold chains. If you want to show off your clavicle, pair these with a t-shirt or a v-cut. Add a splash of colour with a stylish pendant.

Studs are appropriate for both casual and business contexts. They go with just about anything.

Bold earrings elevate a look. They draw attention to your face right away, making them ideal for Date outfits. If you're dressed up or heading out, a striking earring is always a good idea. Choose earring hues that contrast with your hair colour to make the earring stand out the most.

If you have a high neckline, use earrings to draw attention to your lovely face.

Wearing bracelets or watches that match your clothing is a good idea.

Baby, flaunt those wrists. Here's what to wear with a bracelet to make your ensemble stand out.

Bracelets look great with short-sleeved tees and tank tops. They highlight your arms while also adding colour to your entire look. Bangles, simple chains, stacked necklaces... whatever your heart wishes.

Bracelets look great on cuffed shirts as well.

If you don't plan on rolling up your sleeves, avoid wearing bracelets with long-sleeved blouses. Your bracelets should be able to move around freely.

How to wear a ring as an accessory.

The wonderful thing about rings is that they go with everything. That is why we have wedding bands rather than wedding... watches!

Rings, unlike bracelets, look great with long-sleeve shirts. That slight glint draws attention to your fingers and hands, especially since you're mostly hidden otherwise.

Only when you're wearing mittens or long-sleeved shirts with thumb openings will rings not operate. What's the point if your hands are going to be covered up?
